The company, called OpenAI, was announced on Friday. “Our goal is to advance digital intelligence in the way that is most likely to benefit humanity as a whole, unconstrained by a need to generate financial return,” a post on its website said. Artificial intelligence is based on the idea of creating intelligent machines or software. The co-founders are Sam Altman and Musk. Altman is a co-founder of Y Combinator, a highly successful tech accelerator based in Mountain View, Calif.
