About

The Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute (HWNI) at UC Berkeley is the nexus for campus-wide multidisciplinary neuroscience research. Our research community includes over 50 faculty members in 12 academic departments, with plans to increase membership to over 65 in the next five years. This unique multi-departmental structure encourages significant collaborations between neuroscientists and members of Berkeley’s world leading programs in engineering, chemistry, statistics, and computation. HWNI coordinates major research initiatives, supports six leading-edge research and technology centers, and runs the Neuroscience PhD Program.
