Summary: Bhopal: Taking another leap in promoting research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal acting director Dr Nitin Nagarkar inaugurated a ‘laboratory animal facility’ here on Saturday. AIIMS Bhopal is the first to establish a central animal house facility among all six new AIIMS and will help in experimental neuroscience and preclinical drug trials by using animal models.Facility has been equipped for housing and experimentation on small laboratory animals. It has been registered with the Union environment ministry’s regulatory body for animal research – committee for the purpose of control and supervision on experiments on animals (CPCSEA). The premier institute has plans to conduct research on lab animals like, mice, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits.
