Whether robots and other artificial intelligence are taking away human jobs depends on the job – for now. Experts say jobs are slowly beginning to disappear, a trend that is likely not to change. Take the self-checkout lanes at local and Genesee County grocery stores. They’ve been around for several years. Allowing customers to check through their own grocery items, pay for them by depositing cash or a credit/debit card into the machine, then bag up their stuff and leave is supposed to be a convenience. Right? Or is it because each of those machines has replaced a human cashier, to whom no one has to pay a salary or benefits. There are some glitches though.
