Introduction Suicide claims more than twice as many lives each year as compared with homicide, and is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States (US). It is found that the suicide count rises above 33,000 every year [] and more than 30 people attempt suicide following each death []. This eventually results in emotional and financial burdens on their families and loved ones. The World Health Organization [] recently endorsed several universal interventions to prevent suicide, of which two promising strategies were to target vulnerable groups and individuals and then facilitate their access to crisis helplines.
