Artificial intelligence startup takes the stage at 1 Million Cups

Attendees of this month’s meeting gathered to hear Dean Bohlman, Fargo, present a startup that has been in the works for two years. Bohlman is a partner in the business S2C Interactive, S2C Bioinformatics, which offers artificial intelligence services to businesses. The services and products offered would be applied in fields such as medicine, oil and agriculture. Bohlman offered examples of how the technology would assist each industry, and said the programs could help identify cancer cells, survey oil pipelines and help farmers identify weeds harming their crops. Bohlman said he and his partners, Daniel Cave and Swapam Bhuiyam, hope to relocate the startup from Texas to Grand Forks as soon as possible, where the startup climate is more welcoming. “We’ve made more progress in the past nine or 10 weeks in North Dakota than we made in two years in Texas,” Bohlman said, “And a lot of it has to do with 1 Million Cups.” The next One Million Cups Grand Forks meeting will be held Aug. 16.
