Computers Learn ‘Learning’, Take A Step Towards Human Intelligence

As important as this advancement is in the world of Artificial Intelligence, it does raise questions about whether there are sufficient safeguards to make sure the machine does not become too powerful. A bunch of researchers have built an algorithm that truly epitomizes our learning repertoire as human beings. The researchers turned to statistical probabilities to create an algorithm that allows a computer to perform the simple task of recognizing, identifying and copying handwritten characters from a number of alphabets around the globe. The latter basically “explains” the algorithm all the data that it needs to learn, such as the character. If the interrogator couldn’t reliably distinguish the human answers from the computer answers, the computer would pass the test and have the status of a thinking machine, Turing argued.…
