Emotional Intelligence and Neuroscience: The Legal Profession Catches Up

Some time ago I wrote about the concept of emotional intelligence and how important it is in mediation. As I pointed out, emotional intelligence involves the ability to monitor one’s feelings as well as the emotions and feelings of others, to distinguish them, and to use this information to guide one’s thinking and actions into a positive and adaptive rather than maladaptive direction. A lot has been happening in the emotional intelligence field in the past several months, both in Connecticut and nationally.
