A computer programme has been created that can edit videos of people speaking to make it look like they have said something when they haven’t. Researchers at the University of Washington have produced a realistic video of former US president Barack Obama by using specialised software to superimpose new audio onto the clip. Using artificial intelligence, the researchers were able to model how Obama uses his mouth when he speaks and then blend audio onto an existing video.
