Core symptoms are unhealthy eating habits, with disturbances of eating behavior, and inability to control body weight.Food intake and energy balance are controlled as a complex, redundant, regulatory system ensuring that the amount of ingested calories does not exceed what the body can safely handle and that sufficient body fuel is stored as fat. The main brain regions integrating peripheral and central signals of this system are the hypothalamus and the brainstem.
