Google launches venture fund to invest in artificial intelligence

Alphabet has launched Gradient Ventures, a new company within Google that will invest in early-stage artificial intelligence. Gradient will invest in 10 to 15 deals this year committing between $1 million to $8 million to each project. Google said that its AI-focused venture fund will invest in and connects startups with Google’s resources, innovation, and technical leadership in artificial intelligence. “Our fund focuses on helping founders navigate the challenges in developing AI-based products, from leveraging training datasets to helping companies take advantage of the latest techniques, so that great ideas can come to life.” Participants already in Gradient Ventures’ portfolio include Cogniac, Aurima, and CAPE.
