Hong Kong sees growing demand for data scientists

Hong Kong is seeing rising demand for experts in data science which has wide applications in the banking and securities industries. “The financial industry has always been a big part of Hong Kong. We have seen a lot of people who want to learn data science,” Nandita Vyas, director of information technology learning center Hong Kong General Assembly, told EJ Insight. “Interest in startups has grown in the past two years. Fintech is one example of a crossover traditional financial industry with startups,” Vyas said. General Assembly is a venture capital-backed, New York-based startup focused on education for individuals and enterprises in technology, design and entrepreneurship.
