Intel Eyes Internet of Things With Acquisition of Itseez

Last month Intel Corporation announced restructuring of its core business, moving away from being a PC chip maker to Cloud Computing and Internet of Things (IoT). It has acquired a computer vision startup company Itseez to boost its technology. Financial details of the acquisition were not revealed by the company. Itseez is known to develop navigation systems for self-driving cars. Through its software and algorithms known as computer vision, it helps to better understand the surrounding. This computer vision technology is used in robots, self-driving cars, and security applications such as facial recognition in ATMs. The startup company with its algorithms and software provides the drivers with assistance systems through which the hardware of the cars recognizes any obstacle on the road.
