`Intelligent’ toys putting privacy at risk

The increasing use of artificial intelligence in toys puts children at risk of having their personal information hacked. Hong Kong Information and System Security Professional Association consultant Ronald Pong said artificial intelligence in toys is designed with microphone and wi-fi connections to communicate with the users.The communications may be recorded and saved on an internet server. “As children may not know how to protect their personal information, some sensitive data may be revealed in the conversation and can be hacked through the server, affecting the safety of the children,” Pong said.
