Today we’re open sourcing ReDex, a tool for making Android apps smaller and faster. With optimizations like minification, inlining, feedback-directed class layout, and removing interfaces and metadata, we were able to reduce the size of the bytecode in the Facebook for Android app by 25 percent, which translated into a 25-30% faster startup time.
