Metis Officially Expands Its Data Science Bootcamp to Chicago
Despite the growing demand for data scientists in Chicago, due to growth in analytics companies such as Uptake, data science education has largely come from four year universities and graduate programs. It looks like that is starting to change. Metis, a data science bootcamp owned by Kaplan with locations in New York and San Francisco, announced it is expanding its data science bootcamp to Chicago starting in September (applications are open now). The full-time 12 week accredited program costs $14,000, and there’s a $2,000 scholarship for women, underrepresented minority groups, and veterans or members of the US military. Classes will be held in the West Loop. Students are expected to come in with background in programming and statistics.
