MIT Scientists Develop Algorithm That Can Predict Photo “Memorability”

An MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) research team has developed an algorithm that can predict how memorable or forgettable a photo is almost as accurately as humans — and they’re now planning to develop an application to make everyday photos “more memorable.” MIT News says the algorithm is called “MemNet”, and it’s now available online. The online tool also creates a heat map on photos, allowing users to identify which parts of photos are memorable. Aditya Khosla, the lead author of the research, has told the school’s publication that understanding memorability can help scientists make systems that can capture the most important information…
