Moffitt Cancer Center leader to head Marcus Neuroscience Institute in Boca Raton

Dr. Frank D. Vrionis has been named director of the Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, the hospital announced this week. Vrionis is currently chief of neurosurgery at the renowned Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa and professor of neurosurgery, orthopedics and oncology at the University of South Florida, according to a news release. Neurosurgery deals with conditions affecting the central nervous system. “Dr. Vrionis brings to the position impeccable credentials as a surgeon, scientist and teacher,” the release quoted Anthony Dardano, Boca Regional chief medical officer, as saying. “Moreover, he is a proven leader who is especially adept at galvanizing a diverse team of individuals.” Projects initiated by Vrionis during his 16-year tenure at Moffitt included a spine biometrics laboratory and spine fellowship program.
