Movidius releases USB stick with neural computing power

Chipmaker Movidius has a new USB stick that boasts the most dedicated neural computing power on a device of its size. The Fathom Neural Compute stick is powered by Movidius’ energy-efficient Myriad 2 chip — the same one that powers the advanced computer vision in the DJI Phantom 4 drone. With the Fathom, Movidius aims to take the advances that have been made in machine learning and apply them to native devices. It envisions the Fathom being used with devices like drones, enabling them to take steps like landing safely on their own, or with surveillance cameras, to apply scene intelligence.
