Eliezer Masliah, MD, has been tapped to lead the National Institute on Aging’s division of neuroscience. Most recently, he was head of the University of California San Diego’s Experimental Neuropathology Laboratory, where he investigated synaptic damage in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia with Lewy bodies, multiple system atrophy, and AIDS-related dementia.
