New buildings among the potential newsmakers in 2016

In 2016, residents of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff can expect new buildings on local campuses, continued local concern over the moves lawmakers will undertake and the 100th anniversary of Market Square shopping center. In Lake Forest, City Manager Bob Kiely says he’s “cautiously optimistic” about real estate development next year. “A lot depends on the economy and the state of Illinois,” Kiely said. “It’s an election year and we can anticipate a lot won’t get done in Springfield or Washington, D.C.” Kiely anticipate plans for the 10-acre site at Lauren and Western avenues that formerly housed the city’s municipal services building will move forward. “It will be in front of the City Council in the first quarter of 2016 and breaking ground in the spring or summer,” Kiely said.…
