NEW Neuroscience Student Raises Over 00 for Brain Injury Association

A MUN Neuroscience student presented the Newfoundland and Labrador Brain Injury Association with more than $1,000 in funding. 20 years ago Caitlin Newell’s mother and her Aunt Julie were struck by a drunk driver. They survived but Newell’s aunt Julie Howlett was knocked into a coma, which lasted three months. Today Newell’s aunt Julie still suffers from brain damage. This year Newell and her family completed the Tely 10 along with her Aunt Julie and raised more than $1,000 for people with brain injuries. Newell says the money will be well spent. She says the money will go to survivors and families that are struggling with brain injuries as well as a music program that is currently in development.
