North Olmsted Schools receives 000 21st century learning grant

NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio – The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation recently announced North Olmsted City Schools Superintendent Michael E. Zalar was named Ohio Superintendent of the Year. The designation also includes a $10,000 grant to the district, which plans on using the funds towards its middle school Genius Hour program. “We knew it would be a competitive process, so it wasn’t anything we were really expecting,” Zalar said. “It was a very nice prize. This year we’re piloting the Genius Hour program, which is where middle school students have some time to work with teachers to just explore their passions. “It’s designed to promote student engagement that helps them discover what their interests are so they can then pursue that in a little bit more in depth in their educational program.”…
