Nvidia CEO “Not Interested in Mobile,” Touts AI Instead

Does anyone really want to be in the mobile device business these days? This spring, Intel scrapped its upcoming Atom CPUs and Microsoft laid off most of its Lumia team, Nvidia put an exclamation point on the tech industry’s declining enthusiasm for smartphones and tablets. At a press roundtable today, company CEO Jen-Hsun Huang told reporters that his company has moved away from “commodities” like smartphone chips and focused on powering artificial intelligence, self-driving cars, VR and next-gen gaming.
