Nvidia revenues hit record USD 1.43 bln in Q2

Chipmaker Nvidia said revenues for its fiscal second quarter 2017 reached a record USD 1.43 billion, up 24 percent from the year before, supported by growth across all platforms. The net profit leaped 29 percent higher to USD 253 million while earnings per diluted share jumped 21 percent to USD 0.40 and the gross margin improved to 57.9 percent from 57.5 percent. CEO Jen-Hsun Huang attributed growth to strong demand for the company’s new Pascal-generation GPUs and surging interest in deep learning. Nvidia said it wants to put its focus on deep learning and AI, and develop innovative products where graphics, computer vision and artificial intelligence converge and can fuel growth across the company’s Gaming, Pro Visualization, Datacenter and Automotive specialised platforms.
