Palmetto Health is opening the Midlands’ first Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit. To celebrate the opening of the unit, there will be a ribbon cutting and blessing of the hands ceremony at 8:30 .a.m., Monday, Nov. 9. at Palmetto Health Heart Hospital, 6 Medical Park Dr. The Neuro ICU is designed to meet the special needs of neurocritical patients dealing with life-threatening neurological and neurosurgical illnesses such as massive stroke, bleeding in or around the brain, brain tumors or brain trauma. The unit matches monitoring and uniquely trained staff to ensure that the patient receives the specialized level of care that is required.
