SMU-in-Plano adds data science program to online IT offerings

In spring 2015, SMU-in-Plano introduced its new online master’s degree program in data science. The online program is offered in the spring and fall and draws from courses from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, Lyle School of Engineering and Meadows School of the Arts. Students are initially organized into groups of three, each representing fields in computer programming, graphic design and art, said Jim Kramb, interim campus director and director of marketing and meetings for SMU-in-Plano.  Kramb said new students are added to the groups at the beginning of each term during the 10-week program, which also includes an immersion weekend for groups to work face-to-face on their projects.
