Study finds potential in machine learning to diagnose depression

A new study went onto find if machine learning could really answer if one is depressed or not. The basis of the study was Instagram’s photo filter option. The study conducted by a researcher from the department of psychology at Harvard University and another from the University of Vermon, concluded that those Instagram users who used the filter most were relatively less depressed than those who did not. The study authors studied almost 44,000 photographs that were posted by 166 users on Instagram. They focused onto see which filters the group was using more or less.
