The University of Cambridge to Build a New Artificial Intelligence Research Centre
The University of Cambridge has announced to build a new artificial intelligence (AI) research centre to explore the opportunities and challenges of AI development over both long and short-term. The university recently received a grant of £10 million from the Leverhulme Trust under a proposal developed with Dr Seán Ó hÉigeartaigh, Executive Director of the University’s Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER). Leverhulme Trust is one of the largest national grant-making foundations in Britain and was established under the will of William Lever, 1st Viscount Leverhulme, in 1925. Many experts suggest human-level intelligence is common in biological warfare, but in near future, it would be possible for computers to create similar intelligence.
