Toyota launching billion artificial intelligence R&D company in the U.S.

DETROIT, MI – Toyota Motor Co. is spending $1 billion over the next five years to launch a new, Silicon Valley-based company that will focus on artificial intelligence and robotics.  The Japanese automaker says it hopes the new company, Toyota Research Institute Inc., or TRI, will bridge the gap between research and product development. One clear focus is autonomous driving, and the effects it could have on society going forward.
