Opportunity Description:

The Data Science for Social Good academic internship is a 12-week paid programme designed to train data scientists with a passion for social impact. Since 2013, over 200 graduate and undergraduate students have spent their summers solving real-world problems with DSSG at the University of Chicago, and in 2019 the programme is being delivered in the UK for the first time.

Interns (known as Fellows at the University of Chicago) work on projects with non-profit and government partners around the world, helping these organisations do more with their data to improve their services, interventions and outreach. This year the DSSG programme will run in the UK, with academic interns based predominantly at the University of Warwick where they will work with Warwick Business School, the Department of Computer Science and Warwick Mathematics Institute.

The Internship is project-based and includes lectures, workshops and seminars, plus meet-ups and other social activities throughout the summer. Interns will also have an opportunity to meet and work with students and mentors from the global data science community.

How to Apply:Current graduate and final-year undergraduate students (including those recently graduated) are invited to apply before 31 January 12:00 (CST), via the University of Chicago. Click here for full details. There are also opportunities for technical mentors and project mentors (see here for more information).
