IBM leant on the Watson Beat algorithm to do the job with the code absorbing music cultural trends from the last five years, along with song lyrics and film synopses. Watson’s Watson Tone Analyzer API helped by trawling through social media content to pick up on people’s emotional responses to music. So, using machine-learning algorithms, Beat can learn from existing tracks by deconstructing a song’s pitch, time and key signatures, note sequence, and note velocity.
