Researchers Say They Built a Teaching Brain Interface Right Out of ‘The Matrix’
Most Popular Feb 29, 2016 HRL Laboratories says it has created a system that can teach you new skills through a brain interface. Yes, we know. It sounds like that part in The Matrix where a few quick computer algorithms teach Neo kung-fu. But as HRL puts it, they “have discovered that low-current electrical brain stimulation can modulate the learning of complex real-world skills.” According to the research published in Frontiers of Human Neuroscience, HRL monitored the brain waves of commercial and military pilots. From there, they identified signals that corresponded to those skills and created electrical stimulations on novice pilots. Those pilots were then put through a flight simulator, and despite a lack of training, HRL claims the amateurs flew like old pros.
