Royal research grant targets bipolar treatment
Finding a better treatment for bipolar disorder and other mood disorders will be the goal of the first recipient of a prestigious mental health research prize. On Oct. 28, Dr. Jean Martin Beaulieu, a researcher and associate professor in Laval University’s department of psychiatry and neuroscience, was handed the Royal-Mach-Gaensslen Prize for Mental Health Research at an even held at the Royal. The $100,000 grant is drawn from the $1 million prize, created earlier this year with the aim of spurring mental health research by investing in the pioneering work done by Canada’s most promising young physicians.
