San Fran Art Exhibit Features Google Neural Network
The entire limited edition collection of works will be auctioned during a sold-out event tonight. Google’s AI program may find its place in art history, somewhere between M. C. Escher and Salvador Dali. San Francisco’s Gray Area Foundation for the Arts and Research at Google are hosting a weekend-long exhibition, featuring the illustrations of Google’s artificial neural network (ANN). Demonstrated last summer, the visualization tool uses artificial intelligence to mimic neural networks and identify objects in images. Primarily meant for functions like facial recognition, a few tweaks to ANN can produce hallucinogenic results. At low levels, that could mean an artsy interpretation, with colorful strokes and patterns, like something out of a Photoshop filter list.
