Series for driverless cars to support Formula E events in future
Friday, November 27th 2015, 11:03 GMT Races between driverless cars dubbed Roborace are set to be part of Formula E events from the 2016/17 season. The initiative is the result of a new partnership between the series and Kinetik, an investment company backing emerging technologies. To be held on the same circuit as Formula E races in each city, Roboraces will be one-hour in duration, with 10 teams entering two driverless cars. While the hardware will be identical, teams will be free to develop their own computing algorithms and artificial intelligence technology to ‘drive’ the cars.
