UNMC, Purdue Pharm see ‘model’ partnership

The University of Nebraska Medical Center and the pharmaceutical firm Purdue Pharma LP of Stamford, Connecticut, have announced a broad new partnership aimed at advancing graduate education and scientific research, one that also could lead to new drugs for patients. The partnership is intended to promote, develop and expand research and educational exchange in the neurosciences related to pain, the central nervous system and other chronic diseases. Purdue Pharma, according to its website, is an industry leader in pain medication research and abuse-deterrent technology. Another goal is to shorten the path of drug development from idea to potential commercialization.
